BBQ and Memorial Aerobics Studio Paint a Great Success!

$3000 raised for Michelle Hickson's daughter's college fund

Thank you to all who attended our BBQ fundraiser on Saturday, April 9th in honor of Michelle Hickson, our former wellness center director. It was a wonderful day of enjoying time with friends and family, gathering with food, and honoring Michelle with participation from both the South Florence and Lake City communities.

Ann Purvis's class from South Florence High School was able to raise $1500 and ProMotion raised a matching $1500 through ticket sales for the BBQ event. All funds have been put towards a 529 college savings plan for Michelle's daughter, Aniah, who is 8 years old. In addition, we had a great turnout of volunteer student athletes from South Florence and West Florence High Schools, who assisted with the painting of the aerobics studio in Ms. Hickson's favorite colors, white and blue. The studio has been dedicated to Ms. Hickson and has been renamed the Michelle Hickson Memorial Studio.

Paint supplies were donated by Medford Painting, who also assisted with supervising the painting of the studio, where one wall was painted blue and the other three walls were painted white. Schoolhouse BBQ of Scranton, SC provided the BBQ for the event. ProMotion was able to sell about 150 plates of BBQ out of 200 ordered. The remaining BBQ plates were donated to the Lake City Police and Fire departments after the event.

Further donations to Aniah's college fund may be made at the Edward Jones office in Lake City, SC. Please see David Green at Edward Jones for more information on how to contribute to this fund. Additionally, ProMotion will be donating a percentage of monthly fitness center sales to the fund as well.

Thank you again to all who came out in support of this wonderful cause!
